A Pretty Good Band A concert and marching band of local area musicians that performs in community parades and musical events. Interested in joining? Contact Brenda McIntyre at 518-548-6330.   Friends of Lake Pleasant Library   The purpose of the "Friends of the Town of Lake Pleasant Library, Inc." shall be to maintain an association of persons interested in libraries; to focus public attention on the library: to stimulate the use of the libraries resources and services; to receive and encourage gifts and bequests to the library; to support and cooperate with the library in developing library services, facilities and programs for the community.   Lake Pleasant Senior Citizens   Lake Pleasant Senior Citizens Group, Inc. provides senior citizens age 60 and above with a forum to express common concerns and interests, offers recreational and social activities, and promotes activities that help the community.  A senior lunch is offered at the Senior Center on Mondays through Fridays.  A bus leaves the Center at 8:00 a.m. on the third Wednesday for senior shopping at one of the malls.  Location: 2881 Route 8 in Speculator.  Annual Dues $10.00 For more Info: 518-548-4941.   Mountain Arts Consortium  An excellent local theater group specializing in Broadway productions.  Recently MAC performed L. Frank Baum's, "The Wizard of Oz".  Other productions have included, "The Sound of Music", "The King and I", and "The Music Man". (right)   The Board of Directors of The Mountain Arts Consortium is pleased to announce their 2007 summer theatre production will be the new musical version of Anne of Green Gables. It will be presented at Lake Pleasant Central School in Speculator July 19th, 20th and 21st.  Anne of Green Gables is based upon the classic children’s novel written by Lucy Mead Montgomery. It is the story of the enchanting life of the funny, rambunctious, precocious orphan, Anne Shirley. The play follows her struggles as an adolescent to her triumphs as a young woman.    Pleasant Riders Snowmobile Club   The Pleasant Riders Snowmobile club is based in the Hamilton County Town of Lake Pleasant, in the heart of  Hamilton County's more than 750 miles of groomed trails.  New York State corridor trails No. 4 and No. 8 pass directly through the community offering easy access to Oxbow Lake, Arrietta and Piseco to the west, Indian Lake to the north, Wells to the South and Warren County to the east.       Speculator Lions Club Comprised of men and women from Speculator, Lake Pleasant, Arietta, and Wells, this affiliate of Lions International has raised funds for worthy causes for over 50 years.  New members are welcome.   Right: Lions dish out sumptious fixin's at our annual Lions Club Scholarship Roast Beef Dinner at The Inn.   Twigs A a group of community volunteers working to promote and advance the welfare of the Speculator Primary Care Center and local Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  Right: Twigs members at Brooks Barbeque.     Lake Pleasant-Sacandaga Association  The general purpose of the Lake Pleasant - Sacandaga Association is to afford a representative voice in civic and community affairs of interest to the property owners and residents of the area.  Website: www.lpsa-ny.org     VFW Post 7228  The Post home is located approximately 5 miles west of the four corners in Speculator on the north side of NYS Route 8. The post received its charter in 1948, and the current membership runs around 150 members with approximately one half of the members being seasonal residents of the area.       SpARC  The Speculator Amateur Radio Club was organized in May of 2002. The purpose of the club is to support the local repeater, provide emergency and public service communications, generate interest in amateur radio, and afford amateur radio operators and those interested in radio as a hobby an opportunity to meet socially.  Meetings are held at the Lake Pleasant Fire Hall 7:00 PM on the third Monday of each month.
